The Norwegian Society of Allergology and Immunopathology
The Norwegian Society of Allergology and Immunopathology was founded in 1946. The aims of the society are to promote knowledge, research and clinical activity in allergology and immunopathology.
The society is one of the branches of the Norwegian Medical Association.
The society has between 250 and 300 members from different specialities like paediatric medicine, lung medicine, ear-nose-throat diseases, skin and venereal diseases, internal medicine and others.
The society´s journal, "Allergologen", is published twice yearly.
The society is member of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and World Allergy Organisation (WAO). The Norwegian Society of Allergology and Immunopathology is one of the national societies constituting the Nordic Association of Allergology.
At the general assembly on the 6th of December 2003 a document on the present and future challenges in Norwegian allergology was presented and voted over. The document outlines a course of action. In 2002 a Norwegian position paper on immunotherapy worked out by one of the society´s committees was published by the Norwegian Medical Association.
