Avoid repeating colonoscopies more frequently than recommended in national guidelines

Rationale:

Colonoscopies, with or without polypectomy, are invasive procedures with a small but non-negligible risk of complications such as perforation or bleeding. Surveillance colonoscopies take up a significant portion of endoscopy capacity, and it is important that these services are provided to those who need them most, where there is the greatest potential to prevent colorectal cancer.

The National Action Program for Colorectal and Rectal Cancer provides recommendations for the interval between surveillance colonoscopies after polyp removal.
