It is important to place the patient's needs at the centre of the recall system. The next recall appointment should be arranged with the patient, and they should be informed about why the optometrist recommends the timing. The patient and optometrist can also have a dialogue around this, ensuring that when the recall notice arrives, the patient understands the value of attending the examination.
