"Dear Nordic colleagues,
We are pleased to share the Henrik Birgens Fellowship 2026, offered through the Thalassaemia International Federation.
This five-day preceptorship is aimed at physicians from the Nordic countries who wish to strengthen their clinical expertise in thalassaemia, sickle cell disease, and other haemoglobin disorders. The programme will take place at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen as a joint initiative between the Danish Red Blood Cell Centre and the Department of Child and Adolescent Medicine.
The fellowship will combine clinical exposure, multidisciplinary teaching, and practical insight into the comprehensive management of patients with haemoglobinopathies.
Although these conditions remain rare in the Nordic countries, they are increasingly relevant in clinical practice. The fellowship therefore provides a valuable opportunity to build expertise, support knowledge-sharing across the Nordic region, and strengthen our shared clinical networks within red blood cell disorders.
