Det er nå mulig å nominere kandidater til to priser innen diabetesforskning som utdeles under SSSD sitt møte i Gävle i mai 2026 - Knud Lundbæk Award og the SSSD Young Investigator Award. Frist for nominasjonene er 30. januar 2026.

The SSSD Young Investigator Award

is given to a young investigator who has published an important paper within the field of experimental or clinical diabetes research. The Young Investigator Award (10 000 Norwegian kroner) will be awarded at the meeting in Gävle in May 2026. The criteria are: ​

The candidate for the award should be 40 years or younger by December 31, 2025.
The paper should have been published during 2025. The candidate should be the first author of the paper and should be affiliated to a Nordic institution.
An application for the award sent by the candidate, including date of birth, should be sent together with a pdf copy of the paper electronically to the Chair of the SSSD Elisabeth Qvigstad elisabeth.qvigstad@uio.no, no later than Jan 30, 2026. The application should include a motivation (up to 1 page) and a CV (up to 2 pages).
The award winner will be notified by Feb 10th, 2026. The award is contingent upon the awardee presenting her/his paper during a 15-minute presentation at the annual SSSD meeting in in Gävle in May 2026. Travel and meeting expenses will be covered separately.
 

At the SSSD meeting in Gävle, we will also award two SSSD Outstanding Presentation Awards (5000 Norwegian kroner each) to the best abstract presentations at the SSSD meeting.

​​The Knud Lundbæk Award

​​​All members of the SSSD can nominate prize winners. Eligible to receive the prize are researchers who have provided important contributions within the field of experimental or clinical diabetes research. The main part of the research to be evaluated should have been performed in the Nordic countries. The prize winner will be selected by the members of the board of the SSSD. 

Nominations should be sent electronically to Elisabeth Qvigstad elisabeth.qvigstad@uio.no, no later than Jan 30, 2026. Nominations should include name and address of the suggested prize winner, a short CV with publication list, name of the nominating person and arguments for the nomination.

​The prize winner will deliver the Knud Lundbæk lecture at the SSSD meeting in Gävle in May 2026. The prize includes 20 000 Norwegian kroner as well as travel and meeting expenses.
